Ladders ‘N Things spearheads a new generation of businesses in the Route 1 Development ‘N Things Corridor.

Mt. Rainier, May 10 — Mt. Rainier today unveiled plans to convert the stretch of Route 1 between 34th St. and down past the Sunoco into a bustling “Development ‘N Things Corridor.”

“The ‘Internet of Things’ is destined to transform our entire way of life,” said city council member Sandra Subtiava. “Mt. Rainier is already way ahead of the game with ‘Ladders ‘N Things’ and our easy access to ‘Ribs ‘N Things’.”

“We believe that we can become a  regional ‘Things Hub’,” said Subtiava. “For what Mt. Rainier is lacking in natural resources, and human capital, and basic infrastructure, we make up for in things.”

“Things are pretty much everywhere,” Subtiava added. “Imagine a world without things.”

To drive home the essential role things play in everyday life, Mt. Rainier will sponsor a ‘Day Without Things’ on May 17.

“When we realize how much we rely on things to eat, to do our jobs, or even just to look at them, everyone’s going to get behind this effort,” said Subtiava.

Opposition council member Steve Abourzek offered a different perspective.

“Our city doesn’t need a Development ‘N Things Corridor,” Abourzek said.

“Mt. Rainier needs to keep big government from offering perverse incentives that distort the market, and focus on the fundamentals that will drive economic growth, like Skee-ball and elephant polo.”

    • You’ll be glad to know that, in the interests of balance, proposals are being accepted for a Mt. Rainier ‘Development ‘N Nothing Corridor’ along any street where it looks like something might occur.
